2008 Trip Advisor Reviews
Great location for visiting the pubs of Doolin -
particularly McGann's and McDermott's as it's a short
walk (stumble home) from both. Marian met us at the door
and greeted us by name. Fantastic room and warm welcome
from Bean - the owner's Irish Setter. The room was quite
large and comfortable. The next morning our breakfast
was superb and Marian took the time to help us plan our
day of sightseeing. Overall a great experience and I
would stay there again.”
"We were impressed from the minute we saw it...and
continued to be impressed the whole time." This was our
favorite accommodation for a 2 week trip in Ireland The
rooms (ours was above the restaurant) were gorgeous and
newly renovated - nice, simple decorating, a very modern
and spacious bathroom, and a ridiculously comfortable
bed and linens. One window opened up to a picturesque
field of cows and the other showed a beautiful view of
the ocean and cliffs. The walls must be very thick
because we never heard a sound from the neighboring
rooms or restaurant below us. It gets even better though
- breakfast was incredible! You get a choice of
breakfast entree from a full menu as well as a buffet of
several fresh juices, cereal, stewed prunes, candied
rhubarb, and delicious yogurt. The pancakes I had were
amazing - the food blew us away and made us wish we had
splurged on dinner at Roadford House too. “
“The room was very nice, Roadford House is only a few
years old so everything is new. Breakfast was FANTASTIC,
like many others we highly recommend the stuffed
pancakes! From the time we arrived to the time we left,
the hospitality, including driving directions to Dublin,
what to see along the way, etc. was all great! All in
all, it was a wonderful experience and we'd definitely
recommend Roadford House! “
“Frank & Marian were the perfect host & hostess;
friendly, helpful and so hospitable. The room was
modern, clean and very comfortable. Loved the speciality
soap they supplied in the spotlessly clean bathroom. The
gourmet breakfast was absolutely delicious. Try the
stuffed pancake - it's amazing. Though I didn't have the
opportunity to eat dinner in their restaurant, the aroma
coming from their kitchen was heavenly. Check out the
artwork in the foyer and dining room - had to buy a
print so I would have a keepsake of Doolin to bring home
to America. Location is perfect - you can park your car
and walk down the hill to a couple of pubs that have
live music in the evening and delicious pub food.”
“The rooms were basic but very comfortable, clean and
modern, with nice bedding & bathroom. This was the most
affordable place we stayed, at 35 euro pppn in the fall.
Also, we had a wonderful view of Doolin and the Cliffs
of Moher in the distance from our window. “
“Marian was an absolutely wonderful hostess, and Frank's
food was incredible. The breakfasts were definitely
something special, with choice of full Irish breakfast,
local smoked salmon or cheese plate, and the best
pancakes & fruit you'll ever eat. We ate dinner there
one night for my b-day, and it was incredible... a
3-course early bird special that was well worth the
money. If you are going to County Clare, you should
definitely stay at the Roadford House!!!
“Marian is incredibly fun and a gracious hostess. The
location is perfect-off the main road, close to the
pubs. There are horses in the field across the street
that we enjoyed watching play. Do have dinner at the
restaurant. It is wonderful.”
“My family stayed at Roadford House this August and we
give it top notch ratings. The rooms are basic but very
comfortable and the setting is lovely--quiet and
charming. And don't miss dining at Roadford House. The
restaurant, attached to the B&B, is excellent. We had
dinner there and it was one of the best meals I've ever
had. And breakfast, which is part of the price for the
room, was also delicious. The proprietor, Marian Sheedy,
is extremely helpful with advice and making
reservations. And her chef husband does a stand out job.
We went to Doolin because of its location near the Cliff
of Moher and the Aran Islands and because Doolin is
considered the unofficial traditional music capital of
Ireland. So this should be a must stop for a visitor the
West of Ireland.”
“What the room lacked in aesthetics, however, was more
than made up for by the hospitality of Marian and the
food prepared by her husband Frank, an award-winning
gourmet chef.
The breakfast was impeccable—fresh, local products
prepared with care and precision. We also booked dinner
there one evening and we were thrilled we did—absolutely
amazing cuisine.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this
B&B to anyone.”
“We had high expectations after reading Tripadvisor and
were in no way disappointed. From the first friendly
greeting to our final parting, Marian made us feel
totally at home. The rooms were tasteful and well
equipped, and as for the food... well suffice it to say
that we had booked there the first night and we ate
there all three of the nights that we stayed - it was so
good!!! many thanks Frankie, since we weren't able to
thank you ourselves as you were busy, as always, in the
kitchen. Service at table matched the excellent quality
of the food - of good hotel standard.
The only thing I can't understand is that the Irish
Tourist Board won't rate this first-class establishment
on their web-site, since access to the rooms is by an
outside staicase. They must be nuts”
